Healthy Eating Social at The Kempton
Many residents gathered in our Country Kitchen for the “Healthy Eating Social”; I think all our minds were thinking alike since the holidays and after eating all our holiday favorite foods we all over indulged in. Our residents were served vegetables such as carrots, broccoli, celery, snow peas, etc., along with some fresh fruits like watermelon, pineapple, honeydew and cantaloupe. The Activity Director talked about how we can make healthier choices and opened up the floor by asking the residents if they had some suggestions on how to make better choices; such answers were given like “skip a dessert”, or “ask for fruit instead of cake”. Others suggested “walking more”, and “drink more water”. This engagement really sparked motivation and an interest and left people feeling that they were going to make better choices in 2016.
